To improve circulation and prevent the appearance of varicose veins, we can take infusions. Coldwater showers are also very effective, at least the last few minutes
The varices are a health problem that evidences a poor circulation, but also an aesthetic issue that can become very obvious and affect a person’s self – esteem.
In this article, we explain how you can follow a natural and homemade treatment to prevent varicose veins and even eliminate those that have recently appeared. Take note!
Improve circulation
Although exactly it is not known why they arise, we must always bear in mind that a complete treatment to combat varicose veins must start with a good diet, based on the following foods:
- Fruits and vegetables: we highlight lemon, grapefruit, artichoke or chicory.
- Legumes: cooked with cumin, kombu seaweed or fennel.
- Whole-grain cereal – especially rice, millet, quinoa, or buckwheat.
- Egg, preferably organic.
- Blue Fish.
- White meat.
- Raw or roasted dried fruits and nuts, but without frying or salting.
- Seeds: raw or sprouted.
- First cold pressing oils: sesame, olive, sunflower, flax, wheat germ, etc.
- Vegetable drinks made from oats, rice or almonds.
- Spices such as chili or turmeric.
Instead, we will avoid or limit the consumption of the following foods:
- Red meat and sausage.
- Milk and milk derivatives.
- Fried and precooked foods.
- Alcoholic drinks.
Regulate the intestine
The intestine is the other organ that directly influences the good circulation of the organism since, being in our belly, the central part of our body, if it malfunctions, causes a blockage that could cause us problems.
For this reason, we should naturally treat our intestines, especially if we suffer constipation, a tendency to diarrhea or irritable colon, which are the most common problems.
Circulatory infusions
We must take care of ourselves from within and without, and for this reason, we recommend taking infusions every day that contribute to improving blood circulation. We can choose, for example, the following medicinal plants:
- A plant to improve liver function: boldo, dandelion or milk thistle (caution in patients with significant liver problems).
- Rosemary or gotu kola to improve the circulatory function of the extremities (rosemary will not be taken if you suffer from hypertension).
- A plant to improve microcirculation: ginkgo biloba.
- Flax seeds to regulate intestinal function.
We can add to this infusion the juice of half a lemon and a little stevia or honey to sweeten.
Coldwater
The cold water is the most immediate relief for circulation problems, as long as we apply the right way.
- At a time when we are not cold, we will wet our legs with cold water. We can do it in the shower, the bathtub, in a swimming pool, in the sea, with a hose, etc.
- We will stay a few minutes, if possible while we are on the move.
- Next, we will dry our legs to make them warm and achieve the contrast of temperatures, which is really the most healing.
- If we have not yet managed to warm up, we will do some exercise or massage.
Moisturizing cream and massage
To further improve the blood supply to our legs, we should massage them at least once a day with a specific product, which we always recommend is natural, with ingredients that are not harmful to our health.
We can choose a moisturizing gel or cream, or prepare our own oil by mixing a base of almond vegetable oil with a few drops of any of the following essential oils:
- Rosemary
- Hammamelis
- Asiatic spark
- Vine
- Horse chestnut
We will massage the legs in circles, always in an upward direction, towards the heart. Finally, with a closed fist, we will make ascending movements.
Inverted posture
Every night before going to bed we will lie on the floor, in bed or on a sofa and we will put our legs up, if possible with the buttocks touching the wall and the legs fully vertical, creating a right angle with our body.
We will remain in this position for 15 to 30 minutes unless our legs fall asleep before. This simple exercise, which is similar to some yoga postures and other body therapies, is very effective and relaxing if we practice it daily.
