We are living in a time when it is very easy to get distracted by everything that surrounds us, from social networks to any activity we do daily; however, you as a company leader have a responsibility to avoid all these distractions as much as possible and keep yourself and your company focused on achieving objectives.
It is important to be clear that when you choose a goal or purpose, you should not take it as an obligation, because your motivation will last very little. Instead, see it as a process where you will benefit. Maintaining consistency and being disciplined is something that will make the difference between success or failure.
So how do you stay focused to meet your goals?
1. Vision
As a leader, it is important that you have a clear vision of your company, that is, where you want it to go and why you are doing it, sharing it with your collaborators so that they all walk in the same direction. The clearer, the more powerful it will be.
Take the time to reflect if your decisions are focused on your vision, if so, move on, but if you notice that you are taking another path, it is a good time to redirect them.
2. Goals
Once you have your vision clear, having your goals will be the key to staying focused. It is important that they are specific, clear and with tentative dates to fulfill them. Thus, you can check them every certain time and evaluate their process.
In addition, it is a good way to draw up your work plan and identify who will be in charge of carrying out each task. Remember that delegating is a skill that will strengthen your leadership and help you focus your attention on what requires it.
3. Allies
Identify who your allies and support network are to meet your goals. Set up meetings with these people to support each other and to share achievements, learnings and advice. Make sure they are people who transmit their knowledge and help you identify if you are losing focus on your goals.
4. Image
It may happen to you that there are days when you may work from home and want to do it in your pajamas. However, a study conducted by the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology showed that dressing as if you were going to the office helps you perform better.
This is because when you wear certain clothes you tend to adopt behaviors associated with what you are wearing. Similarly, if you work in person and wear clothes that make you feel confident, professional, and motivated, you will project this into your actions. Use the clothes in your favor!
5. Achievements
No matter how small or large the goals achieved, rewarding yourself will help you stay motivated, focused, and eager to keep going. Do not forget to make your work team part of this achievement, since they are an important part of having achieved it and you will generate a positive environment in your company.
A good leader knows how to transmit his knowledge, take responsibility for his team and seek that each and every one of its members give the best of themselves so that together they achieve the goals. The more focused you are, the more assertive you will be in making decisions, managing to strengthen your personal branding.
