Losing an iPhone is an experience we don’t wish on our worst enemy. After all, our mobile contains all kinds of valuable personal information that we use on a day-to-day basis, private data; as well as content that has been entrusted to us by third parties. For this reason, when we lose our device, it can feel like losing a part of the body. However, thanks to the Find tool, Apple allows us to locate our iPhone quickly and without too many inconveniences.
The service Find It is exclusive to the Cupertino firm. Not only does it allow us to quickly locate our iPhone, but we can also do the same with other brand devices; like iPad, AirPods, Mac, Apple Watch and even your MagSafe Wallet. In addition, it is completely free, and allows us to carry out other actions on our lost device even if it is miles away.
Among these functions we have remove personal data from our device, lock the terminal, play a sound to find it if it is silent; and even set lost mode to lock and track our iPhone.
How to locate your iPhone on the map
With the Find tool you can search for your lost iPhone and see your location on the map. Apple allows us to execute this action in several ways, and of course here we are going to show you how to do it in any of the cases.
From another Apple device
If you have another Apple device at home, finding your lost iPhone will be even easier. you just need another iPhone, an iPad, Mac, or even an Apple Watch with internet connection.
Thanks to the company’s ecosystem, all Apple devices have the Find My app installed by default. In this way, you can access it and see the real-time location of your devices; as well as set lost mode, play sounds, and many more options. This is how it’s done:
- open the app Find on your iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch
- You should be signed in to Apple if your device is associated with your account. If you do it from a friend’s mobile, sign in with your Apple ID.
- In section Devices you will see a list of all those associated with your account. Find your iPhone here.
- Tap on it.
- Now, you will be able to see its location in real time. In case this is not accessible, you will be able to see the last known location.
Locate your lost iPhone from iCloud
In case you don’t have an Apple device in your possession, you can still search for this lost iPhone easily. This option is accessible from a computer or Android device. You just have to follow the procedure:
- Enter to iCloud.com.
- Here, you will be asked to sign in with your Apple ID.
- Once you have logged in, go to the section Look for between the icon menu.
- You should be able to see all of your devices associated with the account. Among them, your iPhone. If iCloud can’t display your device’s current location, the last known location will take its place.
Now you can search your iPhone even without battery
With the arrival of iOS 14, Apple introduced the mode Power Reserve on iPhones. However, with iOS 15.2 it already allows us to easily locate our terminal even when turned off or downloaded.
However, we will have a five-hour limit to search for our terminal Discharged. Once this time window ends, the device will report its last known location, thus ceasing to show us its location in real time.
If you want to know if your device is compatible with Power Reserve, you just have to unlock your iPhone; press and hold the power button until the slider indicator appears. Here, it should read “iPhone can be located even after power off“. In case such text appears, your mobile will have this function -you must have location enabled, of course-. This feature automatically activated when updating to iOS 15.2 or higher, so if it does not appear, it means that your mobile is in a lower version or is not compatible.
