Surely you have ever wondered how to calibrate the battery of your Android mobile or if this can be done. Today at ProAndroid we will explain how to do it in the simplest way possible, without applications or strange things. You will only need your mobile, the charger and some patience. If you have tried to download applications to calibrate the battery, we already recommend deleting them, since you will not get anything with them. This tutorial is not exact, but it can be used to calibrate the battery of your Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei or any Android mobile. It does not mean that it fixes all the problems with the battery, but if it is out of calibration, this process can help you a lot.
The battery of a mobile phone is no longer calibrated for several reasons. Fast charging processes and high temperatures are among the most common. Using a different charger with each charge or always draining the battery to 5 or 10% can also be reasons for having a poorly calibrated battery. Of course, viruses, malware or unofficial ROMs also have a lot to say in this equation.
How to know if the battery of your mobile is poorly calibrated
There is no application that tells you, so the safest thing in these cases is to pay close attention to the percentage of the battery. If the percentage has very large variations in a short time, it is very likely that your battery is poorly calibrated. It may also be defective, but before changing it is advisable to calibrate it to see if everything is fixed.
Having 20% and that the phone turns off is also an important symptom of a poorly calibrated battery. The mobile thinks that in the cell there is still energy to use, but the reality is that this is depleted before reaching 0%. If this happens to you, it is very likely that you have a problem in the battery calibration.
Problems with battery calibration: how to fix them
The first thing you should know is that calibration applications are useless. Don’t search Google Play, much less outside Google Play. If you have any and have used it, it is best to delete it, as it is not doing what it promises.
The best method to calibrate the battery of an Android mobile phone is to carry out various charging and discharging processes. Do it when you are not going to need your device for several hours because you will need to leave it for a while and without using it. Ready? You must follow these steps:
- It doesn’t matter what percentage you have right now: charge the battery up to 100%. It is recommended that you do not disconnect the charger when the percentage reaches 100%, leave it for a while. The battery is poorly calibrated, so when it reaches 100% it is probably not real. Leave it for 1 or 2 more hours.
- Your mission now is to discharge the battery. Yes, the whole battery. Use your device until it turns off because it has no more battery. This is not recommended to do every day, because the battery is stressed. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing it 1 or 2 times a month. Nothing.
- The most boring point comes: let the mobile rest for 3, 4 or 5 hours. When it turns off, leave it this time. If it can be 5 hours, better than 3. This process eliminates the residual percentage and allows you to have a completely discharged battery.
- Put your mobile to charge. Do it without turning it on and repeat the process from point 1: leave it a little longer when it reaches 100%. Then turn it on normally and you’re done. Your mobile should have battery calibrated.
It is not an exact process for all mobiles, this must be kept in mind. It may work better for one user than another on different mobiles. Not all batteries are identical or have the same lifespan.
Calibrating the battery has been useless, the mobile remains the same
Have you done the whole process and your mobile remains the same? We have bad news: there is a good chance that the battery is damaged or defective. It is something normal that happens in mobiles with many years or with constant daily temperature changes.
If your mobile is less than two years old it is less common, so we recommend talking to the manufacturer and requesting a warranty repair. Battery degradation is not covered by the warranty agreement, but maybe faulty from the start or there may be other problems within the device.
It is very likely that if you contact the manufacturer, it will ask you to factory reset the device to try to solve the problem. If you do a previous backup it is good advice to try to recalibrate the battery.
