A traditional company facing a crisis typically bases its strategy on reactivity: what can be done to limit the damage after the crisis breaks out. Instead, companies with a culture of excellence do things differently.
They are agile from the start and skilled at a variety of approaches that can be implemented depending on the size and shape of the problem they are tackling.
How to achieve this goal? With constant training, which is planned and executed according to the needs of the strategy. Organizations must prepare their collaborators to master different ways of working that are in tune with the processes and culture of the company and on a par with the development of power skills such as: collaborative leadership, emotional intelligence, an innovative mindset and empathy.
The training we are talking about also implies a technological evolution. It is an imminent fact that organizations face a large-scale digital transformation. For this reason, both companies and professionals must learn or reinforce skills and adopt more innovative technologies to keep up with advances in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and data ethics.
Continuing in this process for the construction of a culture of excellence, it is necessary to take into account various points and tools, as well as some of the megatrends that we see this year, for example, the shortage of labor.
PMI’s 2022 Megatrends study shows two trends affecting the workforce: changing demographics and labor shortages. Organizations and project managers must fill the talent gap by embracing technology, and retaining local talent by working closely with human resource managers to redesign workspaces, recruiting processes, and implement equitable and inclusive policies that support staff of various ages by ensuring their physical and mental well-being.
Having a high turnover rate is not profitable or recommended for any company. Mexico has the highest staff turnover rate in Latin America, with 16.75%. What are our employees missing so that they want to stay within the company and also feel proud enough to wear the shirt?
In my opinion and from what I have been able to analyze in different companies from various industries, to retain your workforce and keep it motivated, you must ensure that the work is meaningful, the benefits are differentiated, and you train your employees.
A survey by OCC Mundial revealed that 57% of companies in Mexico do not train their staff, an unfortunate fact, given the value and impact of doing so.
