Once again, Digital Foundry has given itself the task of offering a complete analysis of the visual performance that these two remakes have on the new consoles. To start, There are three display modes. The first refers to the integration of ray-tracing. The second gives us the opportunity to play at 60fps. Last but not least, the third one gives access to a 120fps mode.
Speaking of ray-tracing, this technology is not only used to improve the visual aspect, but also corrects problems related to reflections and lighting, providing better surfaces. However, it seems that the use of reflections is not uniform throughout the game, something that can be seen in Resident Evil 2. Fortunately, in Resident Evil 3 a better implementation is seen.
Ray-tracing mode makes the game run at 30fps and 50fps. If you want to play at a stable 60fps, the second mode allows you to run these remakes with this frame rate without any technical problemsalthough some of the visual issues that were fixed with the ray-tracing option are back.
Finally, the third mode has a focus on offering 120fps. This means that the ray-tracing mode improvements disappear, and the resolution opts for dynamic 4K. In general, the 60fps lock is removed, allowing these remakes to run between 80fps and 120fps, with Xbox Series X offering better performance than PS5.
Apparently, the best option is to play with the ray-tracing mode. Although 60fps is not offered here, the visual performance improves a lot. On related issues, fans are not so happy with these next-gen versions. Similarly, you can play as Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village.
