The investigation ‘Why working from home will continue’, in which the universities of Chicago, Stanford and the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM) participated, detected the paradox that the home office means in terms of labor well-being.
After conducting a survey of thousands of workers in the United States, researchers found that people who work from home can save up to six hours a week on commuting and personal care such as shaving, makeup, bathing and changing clothes.
On the other hand, home office workers find it increasingly difficult to disconnect from their work tasks. They do not distinguish well between work schedules and personal schedules.
That is why, on average, these types of employees unconsciously increase their workweek by about three hours, compared to when they came to the office in person.
How much time do workers save for the home office?
Home office employees save an hour a day on commuting, on average, and around 10 minutes on fixing their personal appearance, compared to what is customary under the face-to-face modality.
According to research , each employee took an average of half an hour to shower, groom and dress to leave for the office. Now they take a maximum of 20 minutes.
