The lawyer of the People’s Front in Defense of the Land and Water of Morelos, Puebla and Tlaxcala, Juan Carlos Flores Solís, pointed to the prosecutor Uriel carmona of having set up a “setup” with the arrest of Javier “N”, one of the three alleged perpetrators of the murder of Samir Flores Soberanes, activist opposed to Comprehensive Morelos Project (PIM).
“What we see is a whole set-up in the arrest because while the prosecutor points out that he was detained last Thursday, he had already been in prison for more than a year,” explained Flores Solís.
On Thursday of last week, the prosecutor Uriel Carmona indicated that the man was detained in Cuautla, Morelos. However, according to the lawyer, the accused was imprisoned in a Cuautla jail facing a different criminal process.
It also pointed out that it was not the first or only time that Javier “N” had been detained. In September 2019, seven months after the activist’s murder, he was charged with kidnapping, extortion and drug trafficking, but he was released.

Later, in July 2020, he was detained again but the prosecutor Carmona did not request an arrest warrant against him either. In the words of the lawyer himself, it was the opposite, since he “protected” him from having participated in the murder of the environmentalist.
“There is even an arrest prior to September 2019, months after Samir’s, but they released him despite the fact that the FGE had already identified three of the alleged material killers,” Juan Carlos Flores Solís elaborated.
He also explained that the accusation of Javier “N” was based on a series of statements made by relatives on the day of the events, as well as statements from neighbors and the version of a municipal police officer from Temoac.
“With the elements they had since April 2019, two years and months later they request the arrest warrant, which tells us that it is the opportunism of the prosecutor, they make the announcement of the capture at the moment they feel like it, when they could. having detained a long time before, because there was a very great demand for justice for Samir at the national and international level, “he said.

“He announces with great fanfare an arrest of someone who is not in danger of flight, who is in custody. It is a complete irresponsibility, but more is complicity, because it is seen that he himself was obstructing, delaying the process of judicial persecution, “he concluded.
Liliana Velázquez, the activist’s widow, remembers that that day Samir was getting ready to leave for Radio Amiltzinko, station he founded in 2013, when they told him that they were waiting for him outside his home, where two cars arrived. Samir opened the door and Four gunshot detonations were heard, two hit his head.
Flores Soberanes died the early morning of February 20, 2019, when I was on my way to the hospital.
The Morelos Comprehensive Project is made up of three works: two thermoelectric plants for the production of electricity, a gas pipeline that begins in the state of Puebla, passes through the slopes of the Popocatépetl volcano and ends in Cuautla, where it is also intended to build the aqueduct that will supply the Huexca thermoelectric plant.
Amilcingo has a particular characteristic, it is located on the slopes of the Popocatepetl volcano. In the streets you can breathe fighting and on the facades of the houses you can see murals of Emiliano Zapata, denominated like “The caudillo of the South”, symbol of resistance for the peasant struggle.
The residents of Amilcingo oppose the PIM because it would affect some 80 Nahua communities in the states of Morelos, Puebla and Tlaxcala.
