Google updated one of the most popular Photos features to bring it up to date. The technology presented a new view of Memories, the section that appears in the form of stories at the top. Starting today, this feature will have a button on the main menu that will allow you to access albums and memories created with the help of artificial intelligence.
In accordance with an official blog postMemories automatically select and organize your photos on a timeline using generative AI. The new view presents itself as a scrapbook of travel, celebrations and other special events, each with photos and videos. By opening them, we can view the content individually or in IG story mode, as it currently appears.
According to Google, artificial intelligence does the work for you, although there is the option to generate Memories from scratch. The use of AI is not limited to the selection and organization of content, since it can also suggest names for your memories. Just press the “Help me with the title” button and Photos will present alternatives based on content, date and location.
As with ChatGPT and other generative AI applications, Google advises that there may be errors in the results. Users have the option of give cues to focus on important details, or outright, enter the name manually. The new Memories section will receive improvements on the fly and it is possible to send comments or feedback to make suggestions and other features more accurate.
While Memories is a useful feature, not every moment is worth reliving. To avoid a bitter pill, Google will allow you to delete specific photos or videosas well as automatically created memories.
Artificial intelligence will be an essential part of all Google services
Following the explosion in popularity of ChatGPT and Microsoft’s million-dollar investment in OpenAI, Google made a change in its artificial intelligence strategy. During its I/O 2023 developer conference, the technology company announced a new family of AI models to address GPT-4.
google introduced Palm 2, successor to the extensive language model (LLM) that will power Bard and other services of the company. PaLM 2 has been trained on a dataset that includes scientific papers and websites with mathematical expressions. As a result, the model performs better on reasoning, logic, and math tasks.
Bard is one of the 25 Google products that already use PaLM 2. After getting off on the wrong foot, the chatbot is looking to cut ground with ChatGPT. The advantages of the new model will allow you to create, interpret, or debug programming codeas well as answer complex questions.
Although artificial intelligence is the hot topic, a significant part of the population is unaware or not interested in this technology. The application of generative AI in Google services and applications will come in the form of new features or enhancements to existing features.
The new Memories section in Photos, video summaries on YouTube, or the ability to change the background during a Meet video call are examples of the use of generative AI.
