To achieve this purpose, Gentera has five companies: Compartamos Banco, Compartamos Financiera, Yastás, Aterna and ConCrédito, as well as Fundación Compartamos.
Compartamos Banco is Gentera’s best-known company. It was founded 33 years ago and today it has 2.7 million clients in Mexico, who receive credit, savings, insurance, and transactional financial services. There are approximately 15,000 employees in this business.
In Peru there is the company Compartamos Financiera, which also provides credit, savings and insurance services to 900,000 clients in 20 of the 24 provinces of that country.
Yastás, is another of the companies in the group, “which is our agent administrator with around 7,000 agent points; These points are the typical grocery store or pharmacy that we visit so that they can carry out operations that we regularly do in a bank branch, operations for both bank and non-bank payments, which are payments for water, electricity, etc. services”, mentions Enrique Majós.
The most important thing is that it is an open network, which is why it also provides a service for transactions from other banks, in addition to having a great social impact because in this way communities do not need to travel for an hour or more to a bank, but financial services are just around their house.
