General Motors announced in 2021 an investment of more than 1,000 million dollars in the plant to start producing electric vehicles from 2023, with a view to ending the production of gasoline models in that complex gradually.
The Mexican plant will be the fifth General Motors manufacturing site in North America to produce electric vehicles, joining Spring Hill, Tennessee; Factory Zero and Orion, in Michigan, and CAMI in Ontario, Canada.
