Google continues its efforts to bring artificial intelligence to every corner of your ecosystem, and to continue improving it to continue at the top of the market, like the arrival of Live Translate. The latter has to do with its keyboard for Android and iOS, the famous Gboard that already benefits from different AI functions developed by the company. But now, the Pixel 6 have come into play. The Pixel 6 and its power to execute machine learning code.
The latest Google has announced is that its keyboard takes an important step forward in correcting errors. With the help of the Tensor processor, the Pixel 6 will be able to execute a large number of operations without resorting to the outside, to the cloud, and now they will also be able to notify us of possible grammar corrections while we write. It will no longer be that they warn us that this or that word is wrong, but they will want us to express ourselves correctly.
Gboard no longer only corrects words, but also sentences
As is often the case in these cases, Google’s advanced features are first released in the Anglo-Saxon ecosystem. Speaking in addition to grammar corrections, it even makes sense for Google to perfect its system in its native language, English, to later export it to other languages. So that, Gboard will begin to grammatically check our English sentences, and we’ll see when we have these corrections in Spanish.
Google account in its official blog that in order to bring this new functionality based on artificial intelligence to the Pixels, and therefore to the execution and processing offline, you have had to significantly reduce the size of the model file (which includes the Transformer encoder and LSTM decoder) in order to fit it inside the phone. The functionality is stitched like this to Gboard but, at least for now, it will debut on the Pixel 6 thanks to Tensor.
“We have built a small, high-quality grammar correction model by designing a compact model architecture and taking advantage of a cloud-based grammar system during hard distillation training. This compact model allows users to correct their text by complete on your own device without having to send your keystrokes to a remote server. “
The company says that its resulting model, once the dieting and packaging process has been carried out, It has a weight of only 20MB and that also allows execution with a delay of 22 ms, which practically makes it a real-time grammar check. Gboard will endeavor to provide us with corrections so that our sentences, and not just our words, are spelled correctly. Something that, on the other hand and as an added benefit, will also teach us to write better, not only to produce well-written sentences.
