Mexico is one of the Latin American countries with the highest growth in mobile video game players.
The video game industry continues to gain ground around the world. Where in Latin America it reached the sum of 7.2 billion dollars and grew 5 percent compared to the previous year.
According to data from Statista, the annual revenue generated worldwide by video game competitions, also known as electronic sports or eSports, in 2020 amounted to approximately 940 million US dollars.
Likewise, the statistics platform highlights that a continued growth of these in the coming years to reach over 4,700 million dollars in 2030.
Latam registers new users in the gaming industry
According to the Global Games Market Report 2021, the latest report released by NewZoo, gaming has recorded profits of 175 billion dollars in the last year, where it tops the list Latam reached with the sum of 7.2 billion dollars, since it grew 5 percent compared to the previous year.
For its part, Asia had the highest growth with 88 billion dollars, followed by North America with 46 billion, Europe with 31.5 billion. According to IMS data, there was a 7 percent growth in the number of gamers and 113 million users on mobile devices were reached.
Likewise, the report highlighted that in terms of the devices that make up the industry, mobile gaming, which are smartphones and tablets, is the vertical with the highest share in profits, achieving a 52 percent share translated into 90.6 billion dollars and being the only one to obtain a growth of 6.7 percent compared to the year 2020.
The study explained that Latin America was the second region with the highest increase in gaming users, reaching 290 million consumers, ranking only behind Asia and achieving 6.2 percent growth compared to the previous year.
Mobile gaming users
Another study identified as Statista’s “Digital Market Outlook” detailed that eAs for mobile gaming users, South America reached the figure of 113 million users, in an industry of such dimension and with more and more participants, greater consumption and greater opportunity for brands.
As the report also highlighted that 7 out of 10 mobile gamers were responsible, at least once, for making the purchase decision at home, according to a study “What Mobile Gaming New Normal Should Look Like After the Covid-19 Pandemic” published by the IDC (International Data Corporation) in conjunction with LoopMe.
Mexico highest growth in mobile video game players
Mexico comes to the fore in the aforementioned data as it is one of the Latin American countries with the highest growth in mobile video game players, where in 2021 it managed to reach the sum of almost 46 million mobile gamers, growing 10 percent compared to 2020 and with a growth projection of 7 percent for the current year.
“EA games and Activision Blizzard, the gaming platforms represented by IMS, through data obtained in the Global Web Index, indicated an 18 percent growth in their users in 2021, while 8 out of 10 Mexicans played one of the following franchises: FIFA, Madden, Need For Speed, Star Wars, The Sims, Plants Vs Zombies, Sim City or Candy Crush”, says the study.
