Celebrations and recognitions
Celebrating team accomplishments and recognizing good work is another way to foster meaningful relationships. You can recognize colleagues who have done a great job. Recently, in my work team (we work remotely) we delivered a virtual fund with a recognition badge for those who have demonstrated an outstanding collaborative attitude. These awards can be a powerful way to build camaraderie.
Spice it up and organize trivia or riddle games on it. Do fun polls or a game where people answer funny questions about themselves, like “what’s your worst eating habit?” or “share your favorite embarrassing song.” Hold a contest to reward the sticker that best represents a frustrating everyday situation. Propose themed Fridays: photos of pets or favorite places to disconnect from work, or favorite foods and drinks.
Use of memes, stickers or videos that are not offensive and are inclusive and fun
Without a doubt, these resources are an effective way to break the ice and generate connection, but it is important to promote the value of laughing together without offending anyone. Some basic agreements can be established such as not sharing images that involve sensitive topics such as religion, politics, sexual orientation or the health of colleagues.
There are stickers that can be discriminatory, sexist, racist, homophobic or offensive in some other way and are not recommended in a work environment because they can create an unfriendly and professional environment that takes us away from the objective: to unite to work as a team.
