Where is Uber Pool still being used?
“Poolear” was the verb that was coined for this modality and it offers benefits such as reducing the number of cars on the streets, cheaper trips for users and higher income for drivers, according to the platform.
Although this product was discontinued in Mexico when the pandemic began, it continues to exist in other parts of the world, but under another name: UberX Share and allows you to save up to 20% on the trip.
It is available in 27 cities in the United States and 53 cities globally.
Will Uber Pool return to Mexico?
No. Uber Pool no longer exists and, at the moment, it has not been confirmed that UberX Share will enter the Mexican market.
However, at their annual Go/Get event, they announced the launch of a new ride-sharing related product called “Group Rides”. The purpose is that a group of friends, relatives, acquaintances or people who need to get together to go to a specific place, such as a concert, the office, a family reunion, can request a single vehicle.
Users put the addresses of each one and the algorithm automatically makes a route so that the same driver can pick up each one more conveniently. However, there is no release date for Mexico yet.
