The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has published a new food alert notice after receiving notification from the Andalusian authorities, in relation to the presence of Salmonella in a product of pasteurized whole liquid egg of the Spanish brand Ovopack, presented in tetrabrik.
There is no health case associated with this alert, at the moment, and the product is already being withdrawn from marketing channels, in this case focused on the professional field of restoration. However, according to AESAN itself, it is not ruled out that the product could have also been supplied to individualsso it is recommended that anyone who may have it in their homes or businesses do not consume it and return it to the point of sale.
Ovopack’s pasteurized liquid egg comes in one liter tetra brik, a common format aimed mainly at restaurants in which other egg products such as egg white or pasteurized yolk are also found, with a long shelf life, maintaining the cold chain. It is considered a product intended for semi-industrial use and canals of food serviceas raw material, auxiliary or ingredient of food products.
According to available information, the product has been distributed in Andalusia, Extremadura and Madrid. The specific data of the affected product are:

- Expiration date 10/01/2022.
- Unit weight: 1 litre.
- Temperature: refrigeration.
The pasteurization It is a process that guarantees the absence of salmonella and is therefore suitable for use in restaurants against the risks of raw or uncooked eggs, but sometimes the pasteurization process itself were to fail at some point in the chain, or contamination through some material during packaging or treatment.
