We are only a few days away from the premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime. Thus, the first official reviews of the series are now available online, and initial reception sounds pretty positive, with a near-perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
A few hours ago, the first reviews of The Rings of Power They began to circulate online. Thus, the series’ initial rating was a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, this reception has gone down, but is currently at 93%, something impressive considering the property that is being handled, and the freedom that Amazon took with many of the elements present.
This was what Inverse commented:
“The Middle-earth presented in The Rings of Power is strikingly different from that seen in Peter Jackson’s film trilogy. However, it’s a credit to The Rings of Power’s set design and visual effects teams that it feels no less welcoming or lived-in.”
For his part, Roger Ebert commented:
“For all the Game of Thrones-lite feel, its lush production design and the promise of five seasons to tell its story makes me think there is potential in this adventure, even if we can’t see it yet.”
Similarly, Collider noted:
“The Rings of Power does a good job of keeping you informed of the rise of evil to come and feels like it’s moving towards creating a potential Fellowship of its own, with Galadriel at the helm. While the titular rings don’t play a role this early in the show, there’s more than enough to keep audiences entertained: mysterious figures, political plotlines, harrowing survival situations and more.”
However, not everyone is happy, with /Film commenting:
“Despite seemingly all the money in the world, ‘The Rings of Power’ can’t recapture the magic contained in Jackson’s three films. I enjoyed what I saw here, but I also kept thinking that what I really wanted to do was watch the movies again.”
Considering that next September 2 will be released The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime Video, it is only a matter of a couple of days before the opinions of the public give us a new perspective on this production. In related topics, here you can see the new trailer for the series. Likewise, we will have a new Lord Of the Rings book this year.
