In the best of cases, apart from the insatiable search for immediate pleasures, we concede that the family represents a compelling reason for being; However, is that the ultimate goal? Is our individual destiny to form and/or protect families? Why? Is there something beyond?
These are questions full of complexity that cannot be answered conclusively, but through reflection, it is possible to detect revealing glimpses.
Phylogenetically, the family is the nuclear block of the social structure of the Homo sapiens and a source of immense satisfaction: it directly represents the gene’s survival and reproduction effort; therefore, protecting it will reward us with sumptuous sentient experiences. In other words, it is a powerful instinctual impulse that fills us with joy when we fulfill it.
At this point, a critical question is revealed: why does the gene seek survival and reproduction?
Biologically, we can identify a deeper level. Manifest in natural selection, genes compete with each other for individual survival advantages to strengthen the collective. And what is the collective? Life itself. The ‘intergen’ struggle has as its central objective to increase the possibilities of resistance and prevalence of life as a whole. With this mechanical purpose, instincts, emotions, feelings, reason and creativity arose: the most efficient vital weapons.
Consequently, the door opens towards the following essential question: why does life “want” to prevail and maintain order in an environment that tends to chaos? This is where creativity becomes key to finding meaning.
We have already established that creativity is a tool that nature has empowered us to help you resist and prevail. This fascinating ability allows us to merge thoughts to forge new thoughts that impact inside and outside the mind to shape change: we obtained the keys to the future.
In other words, the apprentice became the teacher.
Did we get that responsibility too soon? Were we prepared? So far we have shown immaturity and the effect has been mainly devastating. Although, in the same way, we have never seen such sharp advances in the arts, sciences and philosophy in the history of civilizations.
