These measures were taken after the conflict between Russia and Ukraine escalated to such high levels that no sports institution can control.
Measures like these have been taken to protect soccer players from war, as happened with the Brazilian players of Shakthar Dontesk and Dinamo Kiev in Ukraine.
Foreign soccer players who played for teams from Russia and Ukraine now they will be able to sign for any other team and leave the country, since the FIFA announces that it suspends their contracts.
FIFA suspends contracts of foreign soccer players who play in Russia
FIFA released a statement mentioning that footballers whose letter belonged to a Russian team will be able to sign and play for any other team from now until June 30, 2022. This is in response to the conflict that is still going on between Ukraine and Russia. Russia. The institution responsible for the World Cup implemented a series of temporary measures that will allow foreign players and coaches who live in both countries to sign for other teams.
This arises as a protection measure because the affected teams and institutions have been unable to find ways to help their footballers. Cases like that of the soccer players Brazilians from Shakthar Dontesk and Dinamo Kiev in Ukraine they have given much to talk about, as they managed to escape thanks to a video they posted on social networks where they asked their country and FIFA for help to be repatriated.
Due to this, FIFA has taken action on the matter and will not only allow players who want to return to their countries, but also mentioned that they could sign with any other team in the coming months. I also comment on the following in said statement.
“Following the escalation of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has caused an ongoing and harrowing human crisis, the FIFA Council bureau has decided – in coordination with UEFA and after consultation with various stakeholders – to temporarily amend the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP) in order to provide legal certainty and clarity on a number of issues.
And added the following:
“In connection with the situation in Ukraine, in order to provide players and coaches with the opportunity to work and receive a salary, and to protect Ukrainian clubs, unless the parties to the relevant contract explicitly agree otherwise, all employment contracts of foreign players and coaches with clubs affiliated to the Ukrainian federation (UAF) will be considered automatically suspended until the end of the season in Ukraine (June 30, 2022), without the need for any action by the parties to such an effect”.
“In order to facilitate the departure of foreign players and coaches from Russia, in the event that the clubs affiliated to the Russian federation (FUR) do not reach a mutual agreement with their respective foreign players and coaches before March 10, 2022 or in On that date, and unless otherwise agreed in writing, foreign players and coaches will have the right to unilaterally suspend their employment contracts with the FUR-affiliated clubs in question until the end of the season in Russia (June 30, 2022). )”.
Finally, the most important soccer institution commented that this option that will allow players and coaches to continue their careers must take place before April 7, 2022. Similarly, clubs will not have the right to register more than 2 players who have arrived under these conditions. For this reason, soccer players such as Malcom (Zenit), Wilmar Barrios (Zenit), Córdoba (Krasnodar) and
Douglas Santos (Zenit) among others will be able to seek opportunities in Champions League teams or seek opportunities in other countries.
