A fierce fire broke out in the last hours inside a warehouse in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Barrancas. Part of downtown Buenos Aires is covered by the intense black smoke generated by the incident. Right now, Fire department personnel work on site to put out the flames, while evacuating neighbors who live in houses adjacent to the accident due to the danger of collapse. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far.
The fire started around noon in a warehouse for camping products located at 500 Santa Magdalena Street. A few hours later the first fire truck arrived and began to work at the site. “There were deflagrations as a result of the spread of fire on camping carafes”the sources explained. And they added: “In the back of the tank a column collapsed and we are working in place.”
In addition, they detailed that the place that burns “It has a ground floor, which is used as a warehouse, and fishing materials are stored on the two upper floors.”
“It happened two hours ago in a deposit with combustible material. We have dense plumes of smoke, tongues of fire, and explosions. The column of black smoke can be seen from practically the entire capital. Luckily there has been a rapid deployment of several fire brigade units that are working. We have a dozen units posted, we give oxygen to the working personnel. Fortunately there are no injuries ”, Held Alberto crescenti, the head of SAME, to the news channel TN.
“There is a paint shop on the corner, the firefighters are trying to control the situation so that the fire does not reach there. Now the smoke is coming down. So far we have not had to attend to anyone. All the neighbors were told not to go out. The fire took the deposit. All the surrounding houses are suffering the consequences of the smoke, ”added Crescenti.
