For yet another year, the popular trips of the Institute for the Elderly and Social Services (what we have ended up naming Imserso) promise to be a Total sales success and influx this 2023although the campaign to reserve places began in October 2022.
What we do know about this new year at the expense of this promotion aimed at retired travelers and pensioners, is to verify that there are some differences from previous years and that they can have their good part, but also their bad part.
Regarding the bad part, we find that in 2023 fewer places will be granted, or so it has happened between October 2022 and June 2023, since 813,000 places have been offered when 816,000 had been forecast. It is not a very substantial change, but according to government sources, the adjustment is due to lower demand, since it was estimated that only 90% of the places would be occupied.
The curious thing is that there will be variations depending on the type of trip offered, since the places for domestic tourism have increased (almost 30,000 more places), while those for thermal tourism will not be modified, one of the strongest points, which maintains 192,000 plazas. The curious thing is that, however, it seems that senior travelers are not up for the work of so much thermal tourism, since the occupancy forecast is 60%.
Regarding the rest of the changes, the average stays have been extended, which will go to eight days, while in previous years they were only seven and a half days. Another modification with not too much substance, but that also goes coupled with the loss of trips lasting 15 days.
Extending these trips by half a day is coupled with a greater budget allocation for the Institute for the Elderly and Social Services, which has 6,672 million euros of public funds to pay for these more than 800,000 places with which the elderly make their particular ‘August’.
