The world of the metaverse, cryptocurrencies and NFTs (Non Fungible Token) it seems that, as could be logical, it knows no limits and now transcends the culinary universe, at the hands of Ferrán Adrià and Telefónica.
Together, the Catalan chef —already retired from professional kitchens, but with three Michelin stars and consecrated as the best chef in the world during his stay at El Bulli—, is now focusing on the ElBullifoundation project, whose task is to recover and put the legacy of the restaurant in vogue.
Therefore, it is not surprising that it has launched together with Telefónica a collection of 114 NFT associated with a series of drawings in digital format made by himself. In them, they explain from Telefónica, “the history of culinary evolution is reflected” and can be purchased both on the Elbullifoundation website and on OpenSea, an NFT sales platform.
This collection, whose Proceeds will go to the Elbullifoundation, It is the debut of Telefónica in the emission of NFT in a public network. Considered unique and unrepeatable cryptographic files, thanks to blockchain technology, which guarantees the ownership of the content, these drawings have a value of 0.1846 Ether (a cryptocurrency that is compatible with Etherum) whose equivalence is around 500 euros.
The landing, beyond the curiosity of wanting to have an ‘original’ by Ferrán Adrià in digital format, it also represents the commitment of Telefonica Tech, the provider of cybersecurity services to the telecommunications giant, with the reinforcement of its blockchain platforms.
Far from the purely anecdotal part of taking the step into the ‘metaverse’ with Ferrán Adrià, this landing of cryptocurrencies and NFTs in the world of gastronomy and cooking is part of the path that can be opened with this non-tangible technology.
