Of the total trucks, 1,279 will be configured as command vehicles, each with the capacity to transport 30 soldiers. The remaining 30 vehicles will be dedicated to cargo transportation.
“Although the brand is of Chinese origin, all the trucks are assembled in Mexico, with national labor and fully complying with the regional value percentage stipulated by law and are packaged as Mexican trucks,” said Ernesto Del Blanco, director general of ELAM-FAW, cited in a statement.
ELAM-FAW will create 170 direct jobs to activate its three assembly lines and thus resolve the demand for this order. Adjustments are being made to one of the lines that will be dedicated exclusively to the SEDENA order. With this, the company will sixfold the number of personnel at the plant located in the state of Hidalgo.
Del Blanco highlighted ELAM-FAW’s previous experience in tenders for Sedena, underlining that although on previous occasions they did not win, these opportunities served as valuable lessons to improve the proposals, not only in economic terms but also in technical aspects.
“We have until September 30, 2024 to deliver all of the units, we finance the entire operation and as we deliver we will be paid,” Del Blanco explained.
