Genso Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki is the last game in the Suikoden series, which arrived on the PSP in 2012. After almost a decade only available in Japan, this installment is already available to thousands of fans, since an unofficial translation finally gives us the opportunity to experience this title.
This event is a reality thanks to a collaboration between Twisted Phoenix Game Translation, a German translator, the unofficial Suikoden Gensopedia wiki, and a group of fans known as the Suikoden Revival Movement. Thus, The entire Konami series is now available in English, whether officially or not.
Suikoden: Woven Web of the Centuries, as this game is known in English, It has a script that has around 25 thousand lines of dialogue, with a total of 220 thousand words. That includes translations of the original Japanese graphics and captions for the animated scenes. This is an achievement that is not seen every day, and it also means that the hard work that went into translating all the games in this series has come to an end.
Although Konami does not seem to intend to revive this series, fans can wait Eiyuden Chronicle, a game developed by the creator of Suikoden, which is considered the spiritual sequel to the saga.
Editor’s Note:
Suikoden, along with series like Breath of Fire, were a fundamental part of the great catalog of RPGs available during the SNES and PS1 era. Although this series seems like they will never return, it’s nice to see that projects like Suikoden Revival Movement have done their best to make these titles more accessible.
