The Hungaroring welcomes Formula 1 for another season, and there are 37. The last race before the summer break will surely give us a new edition of the duel between Red Bull and Ferrari. Fernando Alonso will also want to shine again in Budapest.
The 2022 season begins to have a clear world title candidate in Max Verstappen, but that does not mean that everything is decided or that the fight for victories and podiums be scarce. Quite the contrary, as Ferrari has shown the potential to win any race and only breakdowns and errors have prevented it from putting up more of a fight against Red Bull.
At the Hungaroring, the ten teams and 20 drivers from the World Championship will face a circuit different from the last they have visited. On this occasion, traction and cornering will prevail, with top speed and engine power losing importance.

Alonso, Sainz and Pérez at the F1 Hungarian GP
The three Spanish-speaking drivers on the Formula 1 grid will once again seek to make the most of their respective mounts, which are currently three of the four best on the grid.
Starting with Czech Perez, the Mexican driver lost second place in the general classification in Austria and in Paul Ricard he was unable to make the most of Charles Leclerc’s retirement. At the Hungaroring he must win again if he wants to continue to have title chances.
Carlos Sainz He has already overcome the handicap of the penalty for changing the engine that in France forced him to come back and he will want to endorse his great moment of form with a new victory that consolidates him as one of the most fit riders today.
Finally, Fernando Alonso he’ll want another uneventful Grand Prix to prove once again that he’s the fastest driver in the middle class. In Paul Ricard he added his seventh consecutive time in the points and the Hungarian track is one of his favorites, so a Top 5 may not be ruled out.

This is the circuit: Hungaroring
The Budapest circuit is one of the slowest in the championship and its rattling and twisty character has led it to be compared for many years with Monaco. But, although on the street circuit braking and traction prevail over everything else, in the case of the Hungaroring aerodynamics also play a very important role.
The aerodynamics? That’s right, although it may seem strange as it is a slow circuit in general. The circumstance that makes the Hungaroring special is that most of her curves are long, something that forces the car to turn in support for a long time. By doing so, moreover, at medium speed, aerodynamics comes into play and becomes a very important factor when it comes to having a competitive single-seater on this circuit.
To finish giving a very marked character to the circuit, the absence of long straights considerably limits the importance of top speed, so cars are configured with a clear high load settingsomething that it does have in common with Monaco.
The calendar of the Formula 1 World Championship
The 2022 season was intended to become the longest in history hosting 23 Formula 1 Grand Prix, although after the cancellation of the Russian Grand Prix it was not yet clear if this wish would be fulfilled. In the end it will not be like that and, once again, the championship will remain in 22 events.
Regardless of that, this year’s calendar has brought back classic events that were absent during the pandemic. We talk about racing Australia, Canada, Singapore and Japan. The first was already played during the month of April and the second did the same in June. The Asians will have to wait until the fall to certify their return.

One more season, Spain is represented by Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz, both framed in the same team as in 2021. The Spaniard defends the colors of Alpine and is in charge of executing THE PLAN to the best of his ability, which, however, does not include fighting for the title or for victories.
On the other hand, the man from Madrid could reach that point, as Ferrari has improved even more this year and already aspires to important things with Red Bull and Mercedes as main opponents. can Carlos Sainz beat again a very fast Charles Leclerc?
