Elon Musk officially launches xAI, a new artificial intelligence company. Will it be the new competition of ChatGPT?
A few months ago, Elon Musk registered the company in the state of Nevada, United States. But, on July 12, he announced on his Twitter account Twitter that the company xAI was already formally active.
According to what was revealed, the company will be led by Elon Musk himself. In addition, it will have the participation of other prominent personalities from the industry. For example, Igor Babuschkin, a research engineer who previously worked on OpenAI and DeepMind. Also on the team are Manuel Kroiss, Yuhuai (Tony) Wu, Christian Sxegedy, Jimmy Ba, Toby Phlen, Ross Nordeen, Kyle Kosic, Greg Yang, Guo-dong Zhang and Zihang Dai, according to the website.
In addition, the site explains that these people worked in large technology companies:
“Previously, we worked at DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla and the University of Toronto. Collectively, we contribute some of the most widely used methods in the field, notably Adam’s optimizer, batch normalization, layer normalization, and contradictory example discovery. In addition, we introduced innovative techniques and analysis, such as Transformer-XL, Autoformalization, Memorizing Transformer, Batch Size Scaling, and μTransfer.”
