the infamous entrepreneur elizabeth holmes, founder of the fraudulent company Theranos, was due to start her 11-year prison sentence today. However, the former billionaire did not show up because her legal team managed to deliver a last-minute appeal.
Holmes had been sentenced in November 2021 on multiple counts of fraud and was due to appear on April 27 to begin her sentence. This after she was given an extension to be able to give birth and breastfeed her second child.
As reported by CNN, Holmes will be able to remain free on bail while the judge considers his appeal.

In January of this year it was revealed that Holmes tried to buy a one-way ticket to Mexico to escape the United States. It is in January 2022, shortly after being convicted of fraud. This was alleged by prosecutors in a new court filing on Friday.
Prosecutors said that because Holmes wanted to escape to Mexico, he is a flight risk figure.
“The government became aware on January 23, 2022 that Defendant Holmes booked an international flight to Mexico departing on January 26, 2022, with no return flight scheduled,” the court filing says. “Only after the government confronted this unauthorized flight with the defense attorney was the trip cancelled.”
Elizabeth Holmes is an American entrepreneur who founded the medical technology company Theranos in 2003, vowing to revolutionize the blood testing industry with breakthrough technology. In 2015, it was discovered that the technology did not work and that the company had misled investors and patients.
Holmes is considered one of the greatest business fraudsters in recent US history.
