Although the government of Sinaloa announced a ban on the use of toy weapons during the Halloween festivities, the residents continued to use them.
The Secretary of Public Security of Sinaloa published various cases on his Twitter account.
Likewise, Sinaloa Public Security made calls to avoid making an apology for the crime.
Yesterday, a young man in disguise was arrested by elements of the Preventive State Police in Culiacán, Sinaloa, all for carrying a toy rifle and black clothes, and making an apology for the crime during the annual Halloween event.
The apology of the crime, is defined as the exhibition, “before a gathering of people or by any means of dissemination, of ideas or doctrines that extol the crime or extol its author”, says, Millán Martínez in his text “Narcoseries- Apology for crime ”.
In this regard, the Secretary of Public Security of the State, Cristóbal Castañeda, said on his Twitter account that, “there will be no tolerance in the use of toy weapons during the Halloween festivities.” This was due to the arrest of the young man, who was transferred to the Barrandilla Court of the Municipality of Culiacán for administrative offenses.
Fake and toy weapons are prohibited on Halloween night in Sinaloa because “they can generate fear in the population” in the context of violence experienced by the entity, says the Ministry of Public Security.
Sinaloa deploys a prevention and security operation to be alert for costumes and decorations that allude to the apology of crime
In a coordinated manner, the authorities of the three orders of government carry out constant tours in the entity to prevent the apology of the crime, on the occasion of the Halloween parties. Although the authorities warned citizens about avoiding costumes and decorations that would cause concern in the population, the residents continued to do so.
Cristóbal Castañeda pointed out on his Twitter account that yesterday, citizens reported to 911 a truck that was circulating decorated with fake blood, as if it had been taken from a crime scene. Faced with the facts, elements were deployed that located the occupant of the vehicle to ask him not to circulate like this and to respect what was announced by the authorities.
The car in question was a white truck, which was covered in red paint. However, the truck was not the first detected, that same day, a car was reported that was circulating with a doll on the roof, simulating a dead person.
No action will be taken against people who use this type of disguise
The mayor of Culiacán, Jesus Estrada Ferreiro, said last October 20 that they would not act against people who will wear costumes emulating apology for crime during Halloween, since it is a free expression of citizens and is guaranteed in the Political Constitution of Mexico. Meanwhile, the ban on toy weapons said it was to demolish the culture of violence in society.
But what happens when freedom of expression becomes an instrument at the service of those who threaten life and freedom?
