“I thought all that was far away”
At 98 Profsoiuznaia Street, in a nearby neighborhood in the center of Moscow, a drone also landed on a building.
“We suddenly opened our eyes (after the explosion), and we thought it was a car accident. But no, it was a drone that had hit our house,” says Ekaterina Kloian, a 19-year-old hairdresser.
Like her, numerous residents of the building were evacuated and installed in the theater of a nearby school.
On a street next to the building, some curious people stop to take photos of the light damage caused by the drone, while others walk their children or their dogs.
Some look for the culprits of what happened.
“We have so many Ukrainian newcomers who are capable of launching a drone against a building… maybe they were close to here,” said Galina Gartseva, a 72-year-old pensioner who was evacuated after the incident.
“I didn’t have such a bad image of Ukraine until today. And I didn’t expect something like this to happen in Moscow. But that’s life,” adds Galina, who says she is “in favor of Russia and in favor of Putin.”
Natalia Mijeeva, 76, says she was “scared” because she lives on the top floors of a nearby building.
“It’s a bad surprise,” says Tatiana Kalinina, another pensioner from the neighborhood. “I thought that all this was far away, that it didn’t affect us, and suddenly this happened next to our house.”
