After the introduction of the multiverse in Loki and in Spider-Man: No Way Home, everything points to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will exploit that narrative resource to its maximum expressions. At the end of 2021 there was a rumor that some X-Men would appear in the film. Later, it was revealed that the studio and Ben Affleck were reportedly in talks to have him reprise his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. Now there are more leaks of the return of some important actors in previous Marvel films, inside and outside the cinematic universe.
According to a leak published by BGR, Marvel’s plans would go far beyond what we saw in the last installment of Spider-Man, with the return of some very important characters from the Marvel movies. X Men, prior to Fox’s purchase of Disney. In particular: Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Halle Berry (Storm) and James Marsden (Cyclops).
But even more interesting is the possibility that other actors like Edward Norton Y Eric Bana also appear in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Norton played Bruce Banner in the second film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, released in 2008. After its premiere, the studio, Kevin Feige and the actor had problems and decided to replace him with Mark Ruffalo.
Bana also plays Bruce Banner/Hulk in the 2003 film directed by Ang Lee. Although it was commercially successful, it was not well received by critics. It does not fall into the canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the same way as the X-Men saga, the first Spider-Man trilogy with Toby Maguire or the two Andrew Garfield movies.
‘Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness’ would show a variant of Tony Stark played by Tom Cruise
Even more far-fetched, but not unlikely, is the possibility that in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness An other-universe variant of Tony Stark played by Tom Cruise appears.
Rumors have circulated for years that the actor was considered to play Iron Man, but in the end the role went to Robert Downey Jr. But with the multiverse excuse, we may finally see him acting as an alternate version of the character.
We would also see the Peter Parker of Tobey Maguire, Ryan Reynolds repeating as Deadpool and Nicholas Cage as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider. All this would happen in third act of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, during a final fight, where superheroes from different universes come together to defeat the main enemy of the feature film.
As far-fetched as the possibility of seeing all these actors and characters in the second installment of Doctor Strange, anything is possible with Marvel. Let’s not forget that for months we were very sure that seeing Maguire and Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home it sounded impossible.
