Today the Internet cries for a defeated man. A lover who has collided squarely against capitalism at the most important moment of his life. A being snatched from magic that he always sheltered when he asked for his girlfriend’s hand in Disneyland, in front of Sleeping Beauty’s castle, in a world of illusion and color. Today many Internet users have witnessed a scene that we want to quickly erase from our memory, in which the good guy does not win. Today we have experienced an injustice, in capital letters.
Kneeling and grinning from ear to ear, he was proposing to his girlfriend at the Micky Mouse theme park. A special place for both? Possibly. Holding the ring and speaking his words (which he must have been preparing for weeks), he appeared to her. the villain of this tragic story: a Disneyland employee who enters the scene, approaches the couple and takes the ring from the man’s hands asking them to go somewhere else. At that time, dozens of people were spectators of the passionate moment (not so much anymore) and began to boo the worker.

Thanks to someone recording the moment, the video has surfaced on one of Reddit’s subforums called “I Am a Total Piece of S**t.” And it is not for less that it appears precisely there. But we are going to disengage the story because everything does not end there. First, try to understand what’s going on, why the employee abruptly cuts off the intimate moment, and why Disney has apologized for the incident.
While Disneyland is possibly the perfect place to have a proposal, everything comes at a price. And they know that in the company. In the end, the goal is to make money from everything, or almost everything. If you want to leave your backpack in a locker, pay 2 euros. If you want to have a photo of the peak moment of a roller coaster, put aside 5 euros. If you want a raincoat so as not to get wet in the water attraction, another 3 euros.
And of course, if you want to ask someone to marry you, more of the same.
If you access the Disneyland website, you will find a multitude of offers for the occasion: from celebrating your wedding or your honeymoon in the park, to organized experiences for you to promise your partner. All for a price, of course.
We don’t really know what happened at the moment when our protagonist had to stop the romantic moment and if he had to do it because he hadn’t asked permission from the organizers (who offer this type of experience for money). Although according to several media, the man had asked permission in advance. Another user commented on the Reddit thread that unfortunately just they had been located in the place from which fireworks are launched, and that the employee was just taking them to a safe place. Or that it was a restricted area.
Another went further requested the dismissal of the employee. He commented that park workers are specifically told to “never touch a visitor without his permission or take any of his belongings.” In fact, in this Newsweek article, a code of conduct is mentioned that says employees will face disciplinary action or immediate termination if “conduct towards anyone is unprofessional or disrespectful.”
What we do know is that, be that as it may, it can no longer be fixed. Could the employee have waited 1 more minute? Possibly. Could he have shouted at them from afar and not galloped in and grabbed the ring? Also possibly. Have they apologized because the fact itself is a very big blunder? Again, possibly.
