Currently, consuming content via streaming it’s one of the most popular forms of entertainment, and it’s hard to meet someone who isn’t subscribed to one of the many services available to us today. Netflix specifically mentioned his interest in entering the anime industry with his own original productions, and now Disney+ also showed this same interest.
Gaku Narita, executive director of original content for Disney+, and Takuto Yawataanimation director, mentioned how it is that Disney+ plans to enter the anime industry:
“We have a lot of respect for the content of Japanese creators, and we will broadcast them in our territory as they are. I’m sure this will open a new door for us. We have high expectations for producing local content. This includes completely new stuff from Japan.”
For now, Disney+ already has its own original anime with Star Wars: Visions, besides that they are also adapting Disney Twisted-Wonderland in an anime. The company also plans to stream several other series like Summer Time Rendering, Tatami Time Machine Blues, and more.
Publisher’s note: Obviously Disney+ has the potential to become a very good platform for anime content, but the truth is that Star Wars: Visions did not turn out to be as good as many of us expected, and that involved some of the most talented Japanese animation studios in the world. world.
