The Huawei P9 was presented in 2016 as the flagship of the Chinese firm incorporating interesting novelties such as its double rear sensor signed by Leica, thus becoming the The company’s first device to mount cameras signed by the well-known German company.
This smartphone arrived with the EMUI 4.0 customization layer based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and, as time went by, we saw its useful life end with EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo. But now, more than five years after its launch, the Huawei P9 receives a new system update focused on corrections and improvement of system performance although, yes, for the moment it will be reserved for the versions that were sold in China.
Updated security patches and other system performance enhancements
As reported by ITHome, Huawei is launching the EVA-TL00 firmware version 8.0.0.558 (C01) that has a total weight of about 318 MB and that, at least for the moment, is only available in the Chinese versions of the Huawei P9.
According to the update notes, this incorporates updated security patches as well as other improvements that refer to system performance. Among them, we find the optimization of the intelligent search function that is activated by sliding the finger down on the home screen and with which we can quickly access different system functions even if the device is offline.
In addition, it is also indicated that the system stability has been optimized and an application recommendation folder has been added on the home screen, which is joined by the removal of pre-installed applications such as AutoNavi and WPS Office.
As we can see, this update will help our already veteran Huawei P9 to have a slightly more optimal performance although, as we have mentioned, for the moment it will be reserved only for the Chinese versions of the terminal. However, since the Huawei P9 introduced the smart charging function in all markets last year, this software update will probably also arrive globally soon, so we will remain attentive to any news in this regard.
