The PRI in the Chamber of Deputies proposed to eliminate VAT on face masks of any kind, after the increase in the purchase of these masks by Covid-19.
In a conference, the deputy Cynthia López Castro commented that if this proposal passes, it would cause savings of up to 111 pesos in a package of 50 face masks
“In the last few months we have all lived through the pandemic. It has taken a 360 degree turn from this spread. We spend a large percentage of our income on face masks, ”said the legislator.

He explained that the proposal was already registered last Tuesday and turned over to the Finance and Public Credit Commission to be considered within the framework of the analysis, discussion and voting of the 2022 Economic Package.
He exemplified by saying that in the case of the N95 face mask, a package of 50 pieces costs 699 pesos, so people would save 111.84 pesos; In the case of surgical masks, of which a pack of 100 costs 345 pesos, the savings will be 55 pesos.
“(The mask) is a product that we require every day, and well, this proposal is for the good of Mexicans, and see what argument Morena comes up with to oppose a proposal that will benefit 100% of the population.”
