OECD figures listed the countries where there are the highest number of rest days.
With the decent vacation initiative, the rest period in companies is extended.
AMAPRO is an organization that brings together those responsible for promotions in the world.
After the approval of the dignified vacation initiative, the Mexican Association of Promotion Agencies (AMAPRO) made an important pronouncement and acknowledged that the measure will have a positive impact on talent management within marketing agencies, since it will reduce staff turnover and allow for better performance with the current workforce.
Rest days, for example, have come to be measured by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) where it has been established that countries such as Austria, France and Spain are the nations that register the most right to rest.
“In South Korea and Japan, numerous holidays take up a larger part of free time. While Koreans also receive 16 days of leave per year, the minimum allowance for vacation days is quite meager, just ten days per year in Japan. However, employees there earn vacation days with seniority up to a maximum of 20 days of annual vacation,” he explained. Katharina BüchholzStatista analyst when presenting the projection of the study with figures from the Organization.
AMAPRO in favor of decent vacations
The decent vacation initiative will have a positive impact against the 50 percent turnover that has been registered annually, for which the head of the Association accepted that the measure will help to have higher-performing staff.
“If people rest and enjoy their vacations, they will be happier, more motivated. People are going to have more personal time to rest and also consume. Thus, they will return to their jobs with better execution capacity and will be able to obtain better bonuses, have energy to train and will also know that their vacations will increase considerably year after year than if they remain in the same job. A scheme that can bring less turnover for companies and more happiness for the employee. In an industry where we have an annual turnover of over 50 percent, being able to keep the same staff will reduce recruitment and training costs; we will be able to focus on having high performance staff”, explained Fabiola Davó, President of AMAPRO in a statement.
AMAPRO’s position, which highlights the benefits of the labor initiative, contrasts with the results measured by the OCCMundial “Labor Thermometer”, in its 129th week (from November 4 to 11), where it found that five out of ten respondents assured that they are offered 6 days that are marked by law, 26 percent said that between seven and 10 days, 17 percent commented that they receive 12 days from the first year and the remaining seven percent added that they receive their 6 days of vacations plus additional permits.
“It is worth mentioning that Mexico is one of the countries where more hours are worked in the world, 38.8 hours a week according to the International Labor Organization (ILO), so the initiative for workers to have more rest days will be beneficial for their health and productivity”, pointed out OCC in a document for the specialized press.
The positive positioning before the dignified vacation initiative comes into effect on January 1, 2023 allows us to elucidate the mood in the labor sector, so it will be interesting to contrast with what is presented at the time of execution of the new law.
