EA Motive kept its promise and shared the First glance to the awaited remake of Dead space, which was officially announced just a few weeks ago. As expected, the preview was brief, very brief, but enough to give us an idea of the impressive graphical leap from the original title. Basically, the Montreal study allowed us to look at some scenes, the gruesome Necromorphs and an interesting technical novelty involving these creatures.
We go in parts. The studio is leveraging state-of-the-art console hardware to substantially improve the atmosphere, a fundamental element of Dead space. Perhaps the greatest novelty in this regard is the new dynamic lighting system, which allows to reflect light in a realistic way. In addition, the level of detail of the modeling and the quality of the textures is up to a project next-gen.
Among the characteristics that distinguished the Dead space original is the system of dismemberment of the enemies. In the remake they will take it to the next level, being possible shed the skin of the Necromorphs dynamically. The interesting thing is that it will not be an exclusively visual addition, since now it will be necessary to remove the skin of the Necromorph to expose its bone and, later, dismember the damaged limb.
Of course, the above is a significant change in combat. Roman Campos-Oriola, creative director of the remake of Dead space, pointed out that some weapons will be more efficient to peel off the skin and others to cut the limb. Consequently, during the clashes you will have to exchange weapons quickly. If we take into account that the Necromorphs approach your position, you can be sure that the tension will increase.
Also, you should know that the remake will introduce some changes to history Of the first Dead space. Not in the narrative structure, but in the Lore which ties in with the sequel and other adaptations. “We are not going to change the basis of the story, because it is really iconic. We want to have more links with what came after, be it the books, the anime, Dead space 2. We want to fit the original in a better way within that wide universe. Finally, EA Motive confirmed that the actor Gunner Wright to lend his voice to Isaac Clarke again.
