Dark Nights: Death Metal # 4; The villain knows how to be without being
Wonder Woman begins to assume the leadership of a trinity that could be considering the battle lost to an enemy that has not yet appeared. DO NOT miss our criticism and review of Dark Nights: Death Metal # 4
The scarce appearance that the great villain has had since the previous installment of the saga, has not served if not to reinforce the magnitude of the devastation of his existence, finding here its highest point, to infect the population with a marked air of doom. This fast-paced adventure unfolds on four fronts, thus becoming one of the greatest virtues of Dark Nights: Death Metal.
Don’t Miss: Dark Nights: Death Metal # 3 – Review and Criticism
It is in the despair of the heroes who play their last cards seeking to restore reality, that the laughs of the Batman who Laughs resounds, who will take advantage of an evil deity to become the master and lord of everything, it seems to require very little effort to the time to tinker with their destinies.
Expect the worst
On the one hand the Green Lantern seeking to dismantle the artifact that has been the great tool of destruction, on the other the speedsters escaping before the force of speed is stolen once more, and finally The Bat Man, the last son of Krypton and Wonder Woman, plunging into the cosmic crises still in progress.
All betting on what seems like the last hope to compensate for their previous defeat that has resulted in this disaster.
Unfortunately, as the intro of the episode reads, no one reaches the stage they expected and therein lies the second great success of Scott Snyder’s writing, masterfully illustrated by a Greg Capullo who finds in the containment the most refined version of his style.
It’s not Batman or Superman
And it is that contrary to what the formula dictates, when the plot seems to be heading to specify the plan that will have to fix everything to unleash action and mere entertainment, bad decisions emerge, falling on Diana’s shoulders, to place her as the great responsible.
Something that she must assume and assimilate, within this proposal that maintains the exploration of the traits that define her as the great leader and differentiate her from her colleagues who usually hold the same status.
Because just as she is lucid and does not reach the always risky excesses of Batman’s machinations, she is also capable of making sacrifices when necessary, which is always usually out of the Kryptonian scene.
The Wicked Boy Wonder
This is how one of the most convenient epics of DC Comics continues, which in addition to validating the place of the Amazon within the well-known Trinity of defenders of the oldest interconnected universe in the world of cartoons, explores its implications, taking I take advantage of the possibilities of each of the characters in roles that take them beyond the superhero mold, placing them within the field of fantasy in its most traditional sense, that which always carries a certain darkness.
The perverted childlike image of this Robin is disturbing and irresistible, upset by an insane sacred air, of which only a small wink and the word “hurts” on the lips of one of his victims is enough to see the extent of his cruelty. Ditto for the bleak twist he gives Flash, the result of his career with Jay Garrick and Wally West.
Opeth enters
Of course, the return of those preludes starring Sgt. Rock -or at least a part of him- is appreciated, who with a short narrative that wanders between humor and sinister irony, offers the summary of the facts, to put the day to whom here in need.
Finally, the inclusion of the Swedish band Opeth on the cover, with everything and its transgressive musical spirit, always avoiding falling into any type of manipulation, contrasts with the way in which the Batman who laughs asserts his ability to pull the strings and direct the prevailing anarchy.
His themes, which become seductive sound spells, offer the ideal setting with the already customary metallic cover of the staple version of this series. Another twisted piece and dazzling collector’s item.
