We had been seeing the custard French toast on social networks for a while and we were looking forward to Easter to put it into practice. Prepare some fluid custard so that the bread is well soaked in them. Heat the milk with the sugar, the two eggs (previously beaten) and the vanilla essence. Stir while the mixture is cooking, which should not come to a boil. It should not exceed 65ºC or we will cut the mix.
We cover the base of a dish with a layer of the custard and place the slices of bread on top. Cover with the rest of the custard and prick the entire surface with a fork to help soak well. We let it rest for a couple of hours, minimum, turning in the middle of the process and clicking again.
Prepare a frying pan with plenty of oil, checking that it does not get too hot during frying. The ideal temperature is 180ºC, the French toast is perfect and absorbs less oil. We take each slice of bread, go through beaten egg and we fry on both sides until golden.
Once ready, let it rest on absorbent paper for a couple of minutes. We remove the egg burrs that remain attached to the French toast before going through a mixture of sugar and ground cinnamon (optional) and serving.
