The Guadalajara City Council opened the 2023 call for Creative GDLan initiative for the incubation and acceleration of projects focused on the arts.
This public program aims to promote high-impact entrepreneurship in the creative and digital industry; through the creation of a technological hub and the incubation or acceleration of the projects, depending on the stage in which they are.
“What we do is the incubation and acceleration of cultural ventures in fields such as fashion, digital arts, extended reality, video games and other innovative industries,” said the director of Creative Industries of the Government of Guadalajara, in an interview with Emprendedor.com. Carlos Banuelos.

Bañuelos pointed out that, as the specialist Richard Florida says, one of the determining factors to promote the development of medium-sized cities today is the implementation of public strategies to attract and retain the creative class. In other words, content creators, as well as cultural service providers.
These trigger job creation, heritage conservation and different values for modern society such as inclusion, diversity and innovation.
“For this reason, in Guadalajara, the first Creative Industries Directorate was created at the national level, which seeks to promote the creative sector from an economic strategy. That is to say, giving creatives the tools to conceive of themselves as entrepreneurs and potential businessmen,” said the director from Jalisco.
The Creative GDL 2023 call will be available for animation, videogames, VR/AR, cinematography, visual arts and audiovisual arts projects until May 8.
Although the hub is located in La Perla Tapatía, the initiative is open to people who live in the state of Jalisco, within the Mexican Republic and other countries in Latin America and the rest of the world.
Creativa GDL 2023: 40 projects will be selected
The call for the Third Generation of the Creativa GDL program is already open by the Directorate of Creative Industries of the General Coordination of Economic Development of the Government of Guadalajara.
“We know that in Guadalajara there is a high concentration of creators and providers of cultural and digital services and products and what we intend is to promote the city as that creative operations center at the Latin American level,” said Carlos Bañuelos.
40 winning projects will be chosen among those registered, who will be given 55 hours of training in creative industries such as consulting, mentoring, niche events, linking with relevant actors in the sector, sources of financing, creative exchanges and more.
At the end of this accompaniment, the three best ideas will be selected and will receive financial support of 100,000, 30,000 and 20,000 pesos respectively.
Guadalajara as a hub of creative industries
“We seek to position Guadalajara at the Latin American level as that city that is doing things to boost the sector and that investors turn to see the offers that the capital has in film, animation, video game production, etc.”, stressed the director of Creative Industries of the Government of Guadalajara.
