The National Water Commission said on Monday that it predicts that the tropical depression Grace, which moves through the Gulf of Mexico, would impact the Yucatan Peninsula on Wednesday night or early Thursday, either as a tropical storm or a Category 1 hurricane.
The general director of the agency, Germán Arturo Martínez Santoyo, said in a Twitter post that Grace it will strengthen in the following hours.
“As of Thursday, #Grace will move over the # GolfoDeMéxico, where it will intensify to #Huracán, impacting the north-central #Veracruz and #Tamaulipas on Saturday, August 21,” he published.

Conagua estimates that Grace’s trajectory will be as follows:
– August 17: coasts of Haiti (tropical depression).
– August 18: coasts of Cuba (tropical storm).
– August 19: coasts of Quintana Roo (tropical storm or hurricane category 1).
– August 19: Yucatan coasts (tropical storm or Category 1 hurricane).
– August 20: Gulf of Mexico (Category 1 hurricane).
– August 21: coasts of Tamaulipas (category 1 hurricane on land).
The tropical depression will generate heavy rains in Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Hidalgo, Querétaro and northern Puebla.
