Just when the PS5 had hit the market, several companies focused on offering different color plates for this console became quite popular. Although most closed their doors to the possibility of a lawsuit by Sony, dbrand, a Canadian company, publicly challenged those responsible for this hardware to sue them. Well, almost a year after this event, dbrand closed its deal after a wake-up call from Sony.
Through a post on Reddit, those responsible for dbrand mentioned having received a message from Sony, asking them to quit their PS5 board business, or face legal consequences. In this way, this company joins many more who thought to carry out the same business, until those responsible for this hardware issued a giant “No”.
With the closure of dbrand, there is no longer any company that publicly promotes this type of service. For its part, the PS5 is only available in a single color, white, something that, hopefully, will change in the not-too-distant future. On related issues, a PS5 bathing in gold has hit the market. Editor’s Note:
While dbrand’s shutdown may sound like the end of color plates for the PS5, this business lives on, albeit not in such a public way. Sony only needs to release a black special edition PS5, and these problems would be more easily fixed. Perhaps with the release of some exclusives for the future, we will see more colors available.
