Chrome, Google’s browser, is receiving a novelty already available in Safari before, and what many consider one of the best features of Apple’s navigation app: the possibility of move the navigation bar to the bottom of the screen.
According to the developer Steve MoserChrome will offer users the ability to choose whether to have the navigation bar at the top or instead place it in the area below. This new position can be activated in two ways. The first, through the Chrome settings and selecting the location. The second, simply clicking and clicking on the navigation bar.
It is also a novelty that has two main advantages. On the one hand, considerably facilitates the browsing experience, Because by placing the navigation bar at the bottom, a person can quickly access a link or search for something much more easily if they are holding the smartphone with only one hand. For Chrome, on the other hand, it may be an opportunity for loyal Safari users, already used to this position, make it easier to switch to the Google browser.
For the moment, yes this is a beta feature. Therefore, only users with access to the preview version of Chrome for iOS can try it out. In any case, the feature is expected to be available in the coming weeks.
Safari has been with the feature for years now being implemented by Chrome
Safari, like Chrome, we reiterate, also allows you to change the location of the navigation bar and tabs on iPhone. To do this, it is only necessary to access Settings> Safari> Tabs, and choose between placing the bar at the bottom, or at the top.
Apple’s browser, yes, was not without controversy after the debut of this function with the arrival of iOS 15. The websites were not optimized for this new design, many of the basic controls were hidden and the bar moved to the top when the user wanted to type an address. It is something that, luckily, the company has already solved. Currently, regardless of where the user places the bar, the same buttons and functions will be displayed.
