International aid to help those affected by the earthquake that has shaken Turkey and Syria has not been long in coming, also from Spain. Chef José Andrés, recognized for his humanitarian work, praised the quick response Civil Protection and various fire brigades, to which just joined to kick off the World Central Kitchen activity on the ground.
The cook and the team from the NGO he leads disembarked at dawn in the Turkish city of Adanawhere almost immediately they went to a nearby shelter to make a first delivery of food with which to feed about 150 people.
Jose Andres has been carpooling through his social networks in the last hours since he echoed the catastrophe caused by the terrible earthquake, even sending a message to President Erdoganreminding him of the work of World Central Kitchen to bring food in emergency situations, and informing him that they were already on the move to help along with the professional teams mobilized from Spain.
After a first stop in Istanbul, with a slight delay included due to the bad weather of snow and frost that is also affecting the Turkish capital, the Asturian chef and his team flew at dawn on Wednesday to Adana, one of the most affected regions. As the chef himself has recounted, at three in the morning they were already distributing kebabs and other food in the mentioned center.

After this first action, José Andrés has expressed the intention of meeting with the local mayor to assess the situation and properly coordinate humanitarian work of basic food and meal distribution in which World Central Kitchen is specialized, as they have been demonstrating for years through their rapid action in recent emergencies such as the fires in Chile, the war in Ukraine or even the pandemic in Spain.
