Everything indicates that ChatGPT is very close to receiving an important update. Days ago, OpenAI mistakenly confirmed the main features of GPT-4.5 Turbothe next version of the artificial intelligence model that powers the popular chatbot.
The leak occurred in the first days of this week, although it went practically unnoticed. What happened? A link to OpenAI's blog announcing the release of GPT-4.5 Turbo was indexed in Bing and DuckDuckGo results. Although when clicking on it the web page was not visible, it was possible to read the content of the meta description.
In that small fragment of text that accompanied the link, some interesting details of the technology that, presumably from the second half of the year, will power ChatGPT were included. The initial discovery was published by Matt Shumer on X (Twitter), who came across the post about GPT-4.5 Turbo through the Microsoft search engine.
However, the juiciest thing could be seen in DuckDuckGo, since said search engine shows the complete meta description of the indexed links. In a screenshot that shared another user on Elon Musk's social network, you can see that, according to OpenAI, GPT-4.5 Turbo “outperforms GPT-4 Turbo in speed, precision and scalability”.

It is also mentioned that the new AI model that will be used in ChatGPT will use a 256K context window; that is, double that implemented in GPT-4 Turbo. Furthermore, it indicates that it will have knowledge updated until June 2024. The latest makes it clear that GPT-4.5 Turbo will surely be available from July at the earliest. Although an early announcement should not be ruled out, with a view to its formal premiere in the second half of the year.
GPT-4.5 Turbo would arrive on ChatGPT in the second half of the year
Once GPT-4.5 Turbo is released, we will most likely see it implemented in any of the subscription versions of ChatGPT. Let's keep in mind that the free variant of the OpenAI chatbot still works with GPT-3.5, although the premiere of the next artificial intelligence model could also benefit it.
When GPT-4.5 Turbo is available, it would not be unusual for Sam Altman's team to take the opportunity to update the free version of ChatGPT to GPT-4. Although we will have to wait to see if this is really the case.
Regarding GPT-4.5 Turbo, A big unknown is whether it will be limited to ChatGPT Enterprise, or if it will also come to ChatGPT Plus and Team. Although the OpenAI website indicates that these three variants today use GPT-4, only the enterprise one has a 128K context window. This suggests that it is the only one that runs with GPT-4 Turbo full time. After all, Plus and Team still have the standard GPT-4 32K window.
Another point to consider is that GPT-4.5 Turbo It will probably also come to Copilot Pro, Microsoft's AI assistant offered on a subscription basis. Days ago, those from Redmond updated the conventional – and free – version of Copilot to use GPT-4 Turbo, although it does not have priority and only takes advantage of that technology at non-peak times.
