The difficulties in supply chains and the shortage of semiconductors worldwide have stopped the growth of the automotive industry after the passage of the covid-19 pandemic.
In August 2022, for the first time the 80,000 units sold since the start of the pandemic are exceeded. However, there is still a gap to reach the maximum sales for the same month, which occurred in 2016, when 131,888 cars were sold.
Thus, sales in August were 16.4% higher than those made in August 2021 and 9.6% higher than in July.
So far in 2022, 692,685 light vehicles have been sold in the domestic market.
Car production, for its part, recovered during July, growing 10.4% at an annual rate. In July, 259,994 units were produced in the country, that is, 24,614 more than in July 2021. This represents an annual growth of 10.46%. And if the accumulated production is observed in the period from January to July, there is also an increase of 4.76% at the annual rate.
