The new national hockey coach, the Argentine Max Caldas, has summoned 36 players in his first call for a concentration in Orense from the next 27 to 31, including nine of the Tokyo 2020 internationals and the three cited as reserves for the Games.
The Spanish Hockey Federation (RFEH) facilitated this Monday the first call for Caldas, which replaced the French Fred Soyez after the last Olympic event, after having managed the Netherlands team from 2010 until then and having previously been in charge of the Dutch women’s team.
Ricardo Sánchez, Enrique González de Castejón, Álvaro Iglesias, José María Basterra, Alejandro Alonso, Marc Sallés, Marc Boltó and Albert Beltrán are the internationals who competed in Tokyo and who repeat on the Caldas list, along with Joan Tarrés, summoned but dropped due to injury in the Games, and those cited as reserves in July: Llorenç Piera, Marc Recasens and goalkeeper Mario Garín.
