- The Madrid-based company that is known for selling offers on flights to the whole world sold tickets to Qatar, Europe and the United States at ridiculous prices.
- From Buenos Aires to New York, tickets were available for just two dollars, round trip.
- Dozens of users bought and now expect the price shown on the website to be respected.
It is common for online travel agencies to offer plane tickets at bargain prices.
These low prices are usually part of marketing strategies to add customers taking advantage of empty seats that the airlines have shortly before the flights are scheduled.
However, the price at which eDreams offered roundtrip flights from Argentina to Qatar in the month of the 2022 World Cup was unbelievable: one dollar.
That’s right, apparently the Spanish company had a failure on the website and sold tickets to Qatar for 120 Argentine pesos for a few minuteswhich represents just over one US dollar (at official exchange rates).
There were also tickets to the United States and several European countries for values that did not exceed two dollars.
The failure was used by dozens of Argentines, according to different media of that country.
The hope of consumers is that the agency complies with the price at which they sold, under the cheap travel hunters’ premise of “published offer, respected offer.”
eDreams and air travel for a dollar
The flights to Qatar for one dollar and to the United States for less than two dollars were not activated for more than a few minutes, but it was enough for the social networks to novelty will go viral.
In a few minutes, dozens had already bought.
Until this Wednesday, May 18, there has been no official communication from the company founded in Silicon Valley that usually offers flights at low prices on regular and charter airlines. Also discounts on hotels, car rental, vacation packages and travel insurance.
In the networks, the comments pointed to the luck of the users who managed to buy cheap. “There are lucky people, but those who came to buy tickets to Europe for 10 pesos due to eDreams’ errors are in the higher categories,” joked a tweeter.

What happens if the airline makes a mistake and sells cheap tickets by mistake?
Four years ago, the United States airline United Airlines sold tickets at extraordinarily low prices from Santiago de Chile.
After numerous users agreed to that purchase, which was bound for Sydney, the company announced the cancellation of all reservations.
In a subsequent statement, United Airlines said: “By mistake, we short-sold flights at the wrong rate. The error was identified and corrected. We apologize. We have canceled all reservations that were made under these conditions and will refund customers. We work so that this does not happen again.”
