The workers of a butcher shop in the town of Fontibón, west of Bogotá, suffered an unprecedented moment: two thieves entered the business premises, one of them apparently took a knife to steal the money, but the reaction of a man inside avoided a tragedy.
One of the workers who was inside acted quickly: he rebuked him from behind and after a struggle, managed to disarm him to avoid theft. “The guy arrived, he entered, they were chasing him, he took the biggest knife he had and my reaction was to grab his wrist and take it from one of them, which is how one has to react (…) I don’t know what would have happened if not , I would have killed several people, “the worker told City Tv.
The already disarmed man, who was accused of stealing, for which he entered the butcher shop, apparently to hide, had to leave the premises and confronted the community that almost lynched him, but the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá managed to transfer him to the station, where he spent the night, although his companion did manage to escape.
Fontibón is one of the localities where more thefts have occurred with 2,886 this year and the theft of people increased in all localities, except for Sumapaz where throughout the year no records of this crime have been presented, according to a analysis of El Tiempo.
According to the newspaper El Tiempo and the Bogotá Metropolitan Police, in Coesc 1 in the north of the city that houses the towns of Suba, Usaquén, Chapinero, Teusaquillo and Barrios Unidos, the theft of residences occurs mainly, mainly because they are the areas with the highest number of households with the highest stratum in the city.
Theft from residences decreased in the last semester by 4% compared to the same period of 2020 and by 10% compared to the same month of June 2020. During the month of June, there were 106 cases in Suba, 56 in Usaquén, 32 in Chapinero, 23 in Teusaquillo and 11 in Barrios Unidos.
“The structures change and are modified because they see what that economic retribution would be, they are different, with more structure and better logistical capacity, with different weapons,” the researcher told the newspaper El Tiempo to explain how criminals differ according to the area of the city.
A few weeks ago, in the Casandra neighborhood, in the town of Fontibón in Bogotá, a group of neighbors has been collecting signatures to expel three neighbors, according to them, for more than three years they have been “tormented” by the practices of these women who work performing Santeria rituals in the sector. The neighbors assure that they are “tired” because they do not share this type of “satanic” ritual.
In an interview for El Tiempo, Gabriela, one of the residents of the sector, assured that she is tired of the strange noises that come from the women’s house because according to her, when night comes, smoke comes out of the place, screams are heard, guttural sounds and paranormal things happen, “I am very Catholic and I do not share that witchcraft, those ladies say that it is not witchcraft, but it is, they sing loudly and one day my brother got on a bench and saw through a hole in the wall how they make baths and their rituals satanic ”, Although he says that he has called the police several times, he says that the uniformed men never do anything.
One of the patrollers in the area and who is in charge of the quadrant, told El Tiempo that he is the one who should receive the constant calls of complaints from the neighbors, who always tell him that noises like moans are heard from the house, screams, calls for help and strange sounds, however, he cannot do much.
