The firm reported that the call to participate in Bimbo Open Door is open to startups and scaleups dedicated to baking and snack production that have a presence in Latin America or have a plan that contemplates their expansion to that market.
The plan is to have a reach in more than 20 countries throughout the Latin American region, including Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Argentina.
Those interested will be able to register their projects until next August 22nd.
The requirements are having a validated product, annual sales greater than $300,000, and availability to participate in the program.
Additionally, the initiatives must be aligned with the following pillars:
- Nutritional diversity: bakery projects or snacks -sweet or savory- made with clean label recipes (with few ingredients, natural and easy to identify by the consumer) or with inputs of plant origin, such as plants, whole grains or similar.
- Environmental care: bakery projects or snacks -sweet or salty- whose preparation considers a sustainable supply of its raw materials, such as regenerative agriculture, among others; or, stand out for having programs to control waste, reduce carbon emissions and post-consumer actions, such as participation in recycling or circular economy actions.
- Impact on the community: bakery or snack projects -sweet or salty- whose portfolios have a brand with a purpose or that have a social benefit program for foundations, communities, among others.
“We are a global company of Mexican origin that was born more than 76 years ago as a small company, and that time has allowed us to learn and capitalize on many lessons that we are excited to share with the youngest.
“With Bimbo Open Door, we want to be a motor for the entrepreneurial ecosystem where we can achieve models of shared success that promote new talents and their great ideas, which we are sure will revolutionize the food industry”, commented Raúl Obregón, Global Director of Information and Transformation of Grupo Bimbo.
As part of the Bimbo Open Door project acceleration process, those startups and scaleups selected as Bimbo Open Door finalists will take part in a 16-week hybrid program (face-to-face/digital), in which they will receive mentoring from directors and managers of the various areas of Grupo Bimbo, as well as the opportunity to get to know the company’s production and innovation centers, to enrich their projects.
