“There are many changes in the financial industries, both traditional companies and fintech companies and neobanks are betting on this type of technology. We already work with BBVA, with Santander, but we also see success stories with Rappi, Ualá or Mercado Libre,” he told Expansion, Marcos Grilanda, Vice President of Latin America at AWS.
In fact, the announcement of this opening is part of the expansion of the AWS infrastructure globally, with the development of another 32 new AWS Local Zones, where the one in Argentina and one more in Brazil stand out regionally.
With this new infrastructure, customers in Mexico will not need to operate their own servers in the data center, which according to Grilanda will allow them to transform digitally without having such a large investment, since this type of infrastructure allows storage and distribution content for companies that need very low latency.
“For the macroeconomic moment, the cloud is a great solution, we must be closer to our clients because they are going to have difficult times and in order to give them the chance to optimize their infrastructure, we will have to be more flexible and adapt the plans to a budget “.
Another benefit of the proximity of a local zone is to respond to the lower latency needs required by the gaming, telecommunications, streaming and financial services industries.
“Globally we launch 100 million stays a day, especially for making a payment on demand, where there is flexibility,” Grilanda said.
It should be noted that in addition to AWS, other companies in the sector have opted for Querétaro as the place to put their cities or data centers. Among them is Oracle, Microsoft and even Google Cloud.
One of the reasons why companies choose this space is its proximity to Mexico City.
The strengthening of AWS services in Mexico is added to the edge locations that this Amazon company inaugurated in Querétaro at the end of 2020.
